So, we realised that we may or may not have been keeping some information to ourselves that we probably should have shared with you a long time ago…

No time like the present I guess - just last year, social media fell in to our laps, in return we fell a little bit in love with social media design and content management and decided to do more of what we'd fallen in love with for people who needed it or didn't know how to do it themselves.

Ah, March!

Incredibly, but not unbelievably, we've fallen into yet another month of the year!

So, no more complaining about the madness that has controlled our lives over the first few crazy months of 2014 - let's embrace the fact that the year will carry on carrying on whether we're ready to follow or not!

Bring it on, 2014!

Well hello there!

After a much needed break, Jen and I are (almost) ready to take the New Year on, and have a few mandatory resolutions that we're seriously hoping we can stick to!

We haven't been the most diligent when it comes to keeping the world in the loop with everything You&Me, so as one of our resolutions we're planning on making a concerted effort throughout 2014 to do just that! So, keep an eye on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Pinterest.

One of the ways we're going to be keeping all of you happy is a surprise that will be coming SOON!
I'll give you a clue though - it includes you getting a little present from us each month...

We will also be giving You&Me a facelift over the next few weeks - which we are the most excited about so stay tuned for that too!

Here's to sticking to reasonable New Year's Resolutions!

OCD Cocktail Tasting

OCD is a very new and exciting venue, that specialise in stunning food and astonishing cocktails. We were recently approached by them to do the label designs for an event that we thought was a great idea!

They approached a number of twitter influentials - some being Nicki Dadic, Joanne Lurie, Thulane, David Dadic, Mike Sharman, and 6 others - and custom designed a cocktail for each twitter influential, judged by their likes, interests and tweets.

The Counter - Let's Make Dreams Come True

Hi All,

A few weekends ago we had the delicious privilege of being invited to The Counters food tasting for their new menu. There aren't many words that can describe just how mouth-watering each bite was, and they seemed to get better and better as the day went on.

Happy Birthday Jen!

Hi All,

We've been so busy lately that we've barely had time to think about what to wear each morning, let alone find something to post about to keep you all entertained!

But, we've found a little something to share with you!

It was Jen's birthday on the 27th of Feb, and because it's so difficult to get international orders delivered on time, I realised I had to make another plan fast. So I did something she always appreciates.

Here's a look at the illustration I did for her as a gift, it's of her little noo, Riley with her silly face on.

Little Lamb

Hi All,

Here's a peek at an illustration I did for a close friend, whose best friend has a bambino on the way with a sweetly themed lamb room. 

The illustration is A4 in size, and I worked with water colour pencils and fine liners.

Wishing the soon to be parents a magical and memorable few years of upcoming babyhood!

Croft&Co

Well hello there February! So amped that January has been given the boot, and we only have to force ourselves through it again in another year. Good riddance.

On a lighter note, here is some work that we did at the end of last year for Croft&Co in Parkview. An awesome little coffee shop in the process of a transformation, that Jen and I are going to be involved in over the next few months. We really couldn't be more excited to help build this quirky brand and work with these more than fun people! Below you'll see the start of a great relationship, just four illustrations, that helped open the door to more exciting things to come.

We were recently there for our monthly meeting/ business meeting/ coffee break/ catch up and decided to include you on a part (only the start) of our adventure with Croft&Co.

I probably should have included pictures of what we ate there, but as soon as it hit the table I was on that like white on rice.

Drop by for one of the best cappuccinos you'll ever have and some good eats! You'll be going there every day after that. 66 Tyrone Avenue, Parkview.

AVD - Audio Visual Staging Corporate Brochure

One last post for the year! 

With the help of our talented friend and copywriter - Jenny Coulson - we created this simple corporate brochure design for AVD. A company who specialise in providing hotels, meeting planners, associations and various corporations with the technical requirements necessary for successfully hosting their events and functions. 

Can barely believe that the year is almost over but also glad that it is, and very ready to take on 2013. We hope you all can relax, party and get ready for 2013 before January knocks on your door!

'Tis The Season!

Yummy Presents!

Yesterday Jen and I traipsed all over Johannesburg, delivering these little goodies to some of our super clients! We can't really believe that it's that time of year already - but we're also kinda glad that it is! It's been a long and sometimes grim year, but I'm glad to say that Jen and I have come out of it all with smiles on our faces (Especially because of a few special people we get to work for and with.)

Our friend Meg, from The Counter, managed to find these great original Cuban Cigar boxes which we just had to get our grubby little paws on. Better than that - she filled them with her most delicious treats (A Brownie to die for, Rocky Road that makes you weak at the knees and a bottle of Salted Caramel which makes you feel as if you've just had the dirtiest, but sexiest, affair.) Even better - the money spent on the boxes goes to charity!

So, we thought we'd put something together for all of those people who have made our jobs that little bit easier and pleasant this year!

Higher Ground Menu

Here is a small peak at the menu designs we did for Higher Ground - for the launch of their new summer menu. You can view more of the menu on eat out.

We were lucky enough to try a few dishes from the menu when we were briefed on doing the designs, and wow-wee were we impressed! It's amazing how a few ingredients put together can make you "feel" summer. This is what I ate -

Salmon and Chickpea Salad - Smoked salmon, chickpeas, red onion, feta cheese, basil pesto and avocado. Makes me hungry again just thinking about it!

Let's Teach

Hi All,

Jen and I had the pleasure this past week of being granted the opportunity to present to 50+ 13 year old kids. These kids, from Crawford Fourways, have been given the task of designing their school's end of year magazine front and back cover. How cool is that? I know of a number of creative peeps who would have relished the opportunity to do that. I definitely would have!

So, we were asked to come in and give these kids a short lesson on the five ‘need to know rules’ of design. Now, you all need to understand that both Jen and my parents are teachers, so we've tried our whole lives to escape from all teaching of any kind! I think we were both taken aback at how much fun it all was.  These young people are the most inquisitive bunch - asking all of the right questions, making all of the right observations and just generally exploring their world with curiosity and enthusiasm.

The best part about this all is that Jen and I get to judge everyone’s designs and choose the best one. I don't know how we're going to do that, especially when we know all of these kids have tried so hard. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there. So excited!

Tagline Grows!

Exciting news for Tagline! They have extended their reach by adding a website to their collateral.

Luckily enough for us, we have an amazingly talented web designer on our side. Bianca Geldenhuys, our trusty go-to, has earned her fair share of awards for her creations. One being a silver award from SA web awards for the website design she assisted with for Meloti Valley Private Game Destination, as well as a bronze award for the Contrast Studio website. Congratulations!
